A Switchless Combination of a Lamp and a Coat Hanger

Designed in collaboration with Eero Koho.

We approached the EW01 product concept with the idea of turning everyday household items into multifunctional pieces without altering their commonly perceived essence.

User interaction with the product is driven by its foldability, which breaks the basic form, and by a sensor that activates the light based on movement and usage.

EW01 conveniently illuminates a space like an entrance hallway for a moment, but it can also be folded into both a pendant and a table lamp as desired.

The functional prototype is made from sandblasted acrylic tubing, 3D-printed fittings, and electronics built on an Arduino platform.
